Introducing Google Instant

The Search Giant announced a new feature today called “Google Instant”, and it’s awesome to say the least. Google Instant dynamically lists all the relevant search results as soon as you start typing! Technically, you don’t even have to complete a search query to see your relevant results, instantly saving you a few seconds.

According to Google, this new feature delivers a few key benefits; Quicker results, the push of new technology, and overall the innovation of how we search the web.

Here are a few facts Google has listed on their introduction page here:

  • Before Google Instant, the typical searcher took more than 9 seconds to enter a search term, and we saw many examples of searches that took 30-90 seconds to type.
  • Using Google Instant can save 2-5 seconds per search.
  • If everyone uses Google Instant globally, we estimate this will save more than 3.5 billion seconds a day. That’s 11 hours saved every second.
  • 15 new technologies contribute to Google Instant functionality.

Note, however, only users who have a Google Account and are signed in will have access to this new feature.

Also, discussions have already erupted about the impact this new feature will have on SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Check out the video below about Google discussing their motivation behind the new technology.

Keep up the great work Google!
